Encuentros Abiertos - Festival de la Luz in Buenos Aires

My World 2 in Venice

Second Edition of the Group Exhibition My World. It is a transparent exhibition project curated by the artists Francesco Liggieri and Giuliana Tammaro. The exhibition took place between May 8 to May 23 at They will be shown at the Chiesa di Santa Maria Ausiliatrice in Venice. Artists: 108, Alia Lootah, Chiara Gasparini, Francesco Liggieri, Giuliana Tammaro+Silvia Basso, Luca Bidoli, Kaitlin Zorah McDonough, Knore, Koes, Maicol e Mirco, Max Boschini and Nazzarena Poli Maramotti.

Fonlad Festival

Fonlad Festival will start on May 1st, at Gallery Icon (Coimbra, Portugal). 17 artists from 10 countries present photography and digital paintings. I'm one of these artists by the way ;)

New projects, new exhibitions, ...

After a long time of silence, I'm now working on some new project. On 7th March my art collective Pommerfitz wiil be hosted at the photo club "La Ghiacciaia" for a crew exhibition, with the title Retrospettiva: 2005 - 2010. On 12nd March a new group exhibition by La Pecora Nera (curated by Marco Brioni) will take place at La Feltrinelli in Mantova, with the title Mantova Fuori. This exhibition was conceived specifically to encourage an artistic response to the relationship between art and architecture and its social context.

DAP @ MuseoLabirinto in Milan

Me and Mauro Manuini (the Pommefritz collective) have been invited to take part into Box Shocks, a project by Ronald Lewis Facchinetti, better known as ContainerArt’s art director.
Box Shocks is a network of contemporary art events that will be held throughout the month of October in Milan, Monza and Sesto San Giovanni: four curators, over 40 artists and 70 installations linked through a urban museum-labyrinth mounted in innovative city structures. Box Shock’s curatorial approach opens a new perspective on public and private museology: each work, happening or body concert is conceived for a precise space, an inner place planned and designed to isolate and protect the viewer at the moment of his/her aesthetic contemplation.
After its success at the Mantua Festival delle Passioni, Pommefritz collective will exhibit DAP (Passions Automatic Dispenser) again by placing it in the MuseoLabirinto special events @ Box Up Self Storage [Via San Maurizio al Lambro 1. Sesto San Giovanni – Opening: 17th October from 6 pm].
For the occasion, a true circus magician will read the photos discharged by DAP (Passions Automatic Dispenser), foreseeing the future of those who would have inserted an Euro into the dispenser. The Collection of FONLAD @ MIDAC

Art installation @ Festival delle Passioni, Mantua

There are passions that draw us downwards, to unhappiness, that constrain us in a constant state of psychic and physical minority and to depend on external forces. But there are also other passions which are able to regenerate themselves and to turn into active forces, fostering common sense. These passions are happiness, joy, love ...
Would it be possible to "sell" immaterial and intangible values such as passions? The aim of the artistic duo Pommefritz is to distribute to passerbys the positivity of love, joy, admiration and happiness, through a dispenser, called "Passions dispenser".
The link between the immateriality of such passions and the need to have something tangible to touch and look at, to put into the "machinery", materializes by means of photography. In place of the usual products that are sold through vending machines (snacks, beverages, cigarettes), inside it pictures will be placed. Pictures offered to the observer, that take him by the hand to lead him to reflection, by means of an artistic form that increasingly belongs to us: photography.
The language of photography is not the language of the chronicle, but that of poetry, or better still - the language of values. Metaphor, displacement and substitution peculiarly belong to it, forcefully placing it into the world of imaginary. It is an illusion damaging the observer, but a creative technique as well. Its aim is to put down on paper what the photographer feels in order to communicate to whom will look at the picture, the feelings and the emotions provoked in him by a certain subject, more than the existence of this subject on a certain time,.
If strolling through the city of Mantua, you will come upon this dispenser, and insert a coin, you would be able to bring home a 5-photo set of the artistic duo Pommefritz (Max Boschini and Mauro Manuini), divided for kind of "passion". A way to enhance the power of you own actions and improve your mood.
Our "Passions Dispenser" will be installed on the occasion of the Festival delle Passioni, which will take place in Mantua from 2nd to 5th July: an event sponsored by the City of Mantua, entirely organized by ARCI provinciale di Mantova, whose inspiring idea was to create a dialogue through contaminations and confrontations, food and music. The Festival delle Passioni which will be held in the privileged setting of the beautiful squares of the historic city centre, will see four days of music, food& wine and radio performances, whose leitmotiv are five passions, a true occasion for gourmand investigations: Spicy, Meat, Ice, Frying and Sparkling.

Solo Show @ B&B Gallery, Bielsko-Biala

Pommefritz Collective places another one of its flags on the globe of art. After Germany and the United States, this time it’s Poland’s turn. From 19th June (exhibition preview at 6 pm), Gallery B&B in Bielsko-Biala will house a solo exhibition by Max Boschini and Mauro Manuini, curator Inez Baturo, with the support of the Italian Cultural Centre of the city, "divided" by the river Biala. About forty 15x23 inches photos, printed on Kodak paper, will be the exhibition’s protagonists. A color catalog will be available during the exhibition. The Polish stage is just one of the first steps that the duo of artists makes toward Eastern Europe, since next year they will take part at the 2010 edition of the International Festival of Contemporary Photography in Novosibirsk, Russia.

Living in a Still Life @ Fonderia delle Arti, Rome

Me and Mauro Manuini were recently asked to contribute a pictures to a group exhibition at the Fonderia delle Arti in Rome. The theme of exhibition is Still life. Slave to the own Art @ Infantellina Contemporary, Berlin

After the great Berlin success within the collective exposition 18x18, POMMEFRITZ CREW (Max Boschini and Mauro Manuini) comes back on the crime scene with a single exhibition "Slave to the own Art - Sklaven der eigener Kunst - Schiavi della propria Arte". Infantellina Contemporary, the Italian gallery placed at the most beautiful square of the German capital city, will be the setting of this event, during which we will be subjected to our own art, becoming our art’s own slaves...
Not only large size pictures hanging on the walls, but also us living and sleeping in a showcase, for an Orwellian 48 hours-long operation during which we will totally give ourselves, both artistically and physically, to the potential purchasers. An allegory of the microcosm which involves artists, gallery managers, journalists, critics and purchasers: from the weakest to the strongest link of the food chain; the artist selling himself, to sell what he cares the most...

Con le scarpe pulite. La Vita sulle Ande

On Saturday 30th August in Mantua, at Giulio Romano's Logge (at 6.00 pm), Max Boschini and Mauro Manuini will open their new exhibition "Con le scarpe pulite. La Vita sulle Ande" ("With clean shoes. Living on the Andes"). Monica Bianchi is the curator of this exhibition which will show 35 colour photographs from the project on emigration with whom the two artists have taken part to the IX Biennal of Cuenca. The 85 pages exhibition catalogue is published by Il Cartiglio mantovano under the patronage of the City of Mantua.

FONLAD and Madeira’s Biennal @ Portugal

The Ancient’s Students Association of the Arts University of Coimbra with the collaboration of the IC zero Association and the UAVM Virtual Museum presents the 4th Edition of FONLAD, the On Line Festival for Digital Arts. The event will count whith a virtual gallery of presentation of artistic proposals, a newsletter, and one exhibition at Madeira’s Biennal - Portugal. Max Boschini has been especially invited to the Madeira’s Biennale.
